Coastal Kayaking Canada: Our Story
Wildcoast Adventures: Our Story
Wildcoast Adventures was born out of the longstanding kayak company Coastal Spirits, which provided wilderness kayak camping tours, including the Orca Camp in Johnstone Strait for over 15 years. When its owners decided to retire, our team saw the opportunity to take the company to the next level. Incorporating our experience ranging from summers working the front-lines with guests from around the world, to participating in great outdoor adventures by other companies, we designed new adventures to ensure great kayaking tours in Canada could meet the demands and desires of a new generation of adventure travellers.
By going above and beyond for guests and sharing strong knowledge of the area and passion for the outdoors, Wildcoast is providing kayak tours that provide high-quality equipment, fresh menus designed and packaged by a gourmet chef, as well as custom kayak trip offerings in order to cater to the unique dynamic of each group of guests. Please let us introduce ourselves:
Valerie Glendenning is the Wildcoast expert on everything you need to plan your kayaking tour in Canada. She is a full-time resident having made Quadra Island her home shortly after her first visit to the area. Valerie can answer any question you may have from best time to book, to what you will see and experience on your vacation and how to get here. You can reach her via the contact form at the bottom of each page on our website.
Damon is a graduate of Algonquin College’s Outdoor Adventure Program and as Expedition Manager he ensures everything about your trip is ready to go once you arrive. Damon’s love of the great outdoors means that each trip is based on his detailed knowledge of the area and the favourite spots only a resident local expert knows to how to find.
Our Kayaking Tour Guides No great trip happens without our passionate group of guides who return year after year. Every guide is a skilled, well educated, dedicated professional outdoor leader who hold certificates in Wilderness First Aid. Guides often come to Wildcoast as graduates of Outdoor Adventure Programs from both within and outside of Canada.
Owners Wildcoast has four partners who are all passionate about the outdoors and the coastal region in which we operate. Kristen and John’s experience in adventure tours around the world ensure that each year we are improving the experience for our local and international guests, while Valerie and Damon’s (both pictured above) practical experience ensures that the day-to-day operations run smoothly. We all look forward to providing you with an unforgettable adventure!
