Please note:
We operate the only base camp right
beside the world famous killer whale reserve
and rubbing beaches, which results in exceptional
Orca sightings. Since it is the closest
camp to the Orca reserve, Orca and other
whale encounters here are more frequent
and closer than from any other site in Johnstone
Strait. Orca Camp is highly recommended
for nature photography.

Because we are located so close to the Orca
reserve and
rubbing beaches and the large amount
of salmon in this area, which is the main food
source for the resident Orcas, this site naturally
offers some of the best and most spectacular
Orca sightings in the world. Guest

Orcas very often swim right passed our camp,
an amazing spectacle, day and night.
Unlike most other companies, we avoid the very
busy northern Johnstone Strait area and we enjoy
the remoteness and privacy
of our comfortable ocean front base camp
beside the Orca reserve, far away from the crowds.
Included in the tour price are delicous gourmet
meals (including barbecues),
beach sauna and the exciting high
speed catamaran transport to our Orca viewing
camp.
Sea Kayaking with the Orcas is our main activity
but the camp also offers excellent fishing and
fly- fishing (fresh water and ocean) and photo
opportunities, a pristine glacier fed fresh
water salmon stream is part of our camp.....Click

Our tour begins in Campbell River with the
exciting boat ride through the gorgeous and
world famous Inside Passage to Orca Base Camp.
It is quite common to already encounter the
first whales during this part of the tour.
Campbell River is also much easier and cheaper
to reach than Port Mc Neill or Telegraph Cove,
which saves several hours in travelling time
and up to $250 in travelling costs.
Considering the exceptional success rate, the
cheaper travelling costs and the high quality
of the trip, this package offers some of the
best values on the market. Orca

Another advantage of Orca Base Camp is the
use of unloaded sea kayaks (no camping gear).
Unloaded kayaks are light and easier to paddle,
which can be important during whale encounters,
where a good photo depends on quick maneuvering.
From our kayaks and the beach we can watch Orcas
feeding, playing and in social interaction with
other pod members. We listen to the whale sounds
with our hydrophones and enjoy the awesome wildlife
sightings. (other animals we often see are:
humpback whales, dolphins, sea lions, bald eagles
and many others... Click
